Beaufort County School District has postponed all athletic events scheduled for Tuesday because of the threat of inclement weather, according to district spokesperson Jim Foster.

Foster said a decision would be made on Wednesday's athletic events and posted on the BCSD website by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The decision postpones a full slate of boys and girls high school basketball games, including Battery Creek at Ridgeland-Hardeeville, Bluffton at Beaufort High, Hanahan at Hilton Head Island and Whale Branch at Branchville.

As for the area's private schools, not all have made a decision yet on Tuesday's scheduled games.

While Thomas Heyward Academy has postponed its home games with Bible Baptist and Hilton Head Christian Academy has postponed its games at St. Andrew's, Beaufort Academy and Hilton Head Prep are still scheduled to play on the island.

Eagles athletics director Michael Millwood said he and his Dolphins counterpart Rich Basirico have agreed to confer Tuesday and decide the fate of their games by 11 a.m.

"I'm not necessarily of the belief we're going to have as nasty a weather as some people think and I'd hate to cancel the game for nothing," Millwood said.
