The Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District has honored several firefighters for outstanding service in 2013, according to a news release.

Battalion Chief Will Vaigneur was named fire officer of the year, and Branden Beaton was selected as firefighter of the year. Both men were honored after a vote by district firefighters, according to the release.

Vaigneur was picked for his leadership abilities, while Beaton was selected for his positive attitude and commitment to the community, the release said.

Firefighter Scott Harris was honored for his off-duty rescue of a man who jumped from the Woods Memorial Bridge in July.
