United Way tops 96 percent of goal

The United Way of the Lowcountry has reached 96.04 percent -- $2,209,070 -- of its goal of $2.3 million for this year's campaign, according to a news release.

The campaign began in September. Donations help fund programs with 33 local nonprofit organizations that address areas such as education, health, basic needs and income.
