Beaufort County may once again be in the "American Idol" spotlight.

Laquan Fields, the hometown best friend of Season 12 winner Candice Glover, auditioned for the show in Atlanta, singing "When I Was Your Man," by Bruno Mars, and advanced to the Hollywood rounds. Glover sang the same song in the Top 4 episode of "Idol." Fields was not featured on the show Thursday night when the Atlanta auditions aired, but tweeted a picture of himself holding a "golden ticket" after his audition.

Fields, a St. Helena Island native, was one of 44 "Idol" hopefuls to receive a "golden ticket" from the judges in Atlanta, becoming one of the 119 contestants to make it to Hollywood so far.

"'American idol' is best opportunity I've ever gotten in life," Fields said in a text Thursday night. "I will keep pushing until I reach my dreams. There is a song in my heart that I must show the world."

Fields auditioned with Glover in Charlotte in 2012, but did not advance to Hollywood.
