The Jasper County Sheriff's Office does not have enough evidence to charge a person of interest with murder in the death of a Ridgeland man, according to an investigator.

The 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office told deputies Jan. 17 they would need more than the circumstantial evidence they have gathered to make an arrest in the homicide of 48-year-old Kenneth Chisolm, Maj. Donald Hipp said.

Chisolm, of Orange Grove Road, was found in the yard of a Mitchellville Road residence Jan. 3 and pronounced dead at a hospital, apparently of a broken neck.

Hipp said the key to gathering more evidence will be contacting the right people.

"We're pretty sure this incident may have been witnessed by a person or a couple of people, and we just need those people to step forward," Hipp said.
