Stay informed about coming school changes

info@islandpacket.comJanuary 23, 2014

There are a number of potential changes that might affect our educational community in the coming weeks and months.

Where children attend school will be determined soon for families north of the Broad River. If you wish to have input in the process, you need to act quickly.

There are two public meetings, hosted by the Beaufort County Board of Education, scheduled for today and Jan. 30 at 4:30 p.m. at Okatie Elementary School to continue the discussion of school choice and redistricting.

In particular, for current and potential Beaufort High School students, there are two important dates in which your input will be valued. The first is Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Beaufort High School library. We will conduct our monthly School Improvement Council meeting that evening. The second date is Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in the performing arts center at Beaufort High. Superintendent Jeffrey Moss will lead a town hall-style meeting.

We look forward to having representation from all communities who feed into Beaufort High School. This representation includes businesses, parents, teachers, students, and community members who wish to express their thoughts and views on the best way to serve the children in our district.
