A Hilton Head Island teenager was arrested and charged Friday with prescription-drug trafficking.

Officers received information that day that Cody Michael Solomon, 17, had a large amount of prescription medicine, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report. Police were patrolling the area near the condominium complex where he lived, The Estate at Westbury, when they saw a man matching Solomon's description.

When the suspect saw the deputies, he walked away, the report said. As officers followed him, he suddenly ran into the woods, evading law enforcement several times, the report said.

After he was caught, Solomon told officers he had drugs in his apartment but was not a dealer, the report said. Deputies seized more than 100 Xanax pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash, the report said.

Solomon was also charged with possession of marijuana and fleeing law enforcement. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bail set at $51,712.50.
