World is becoming addicted to drama

We have a new word we can use now when referring to what my parents called a cold spell -- a Polar Vortex.

Wow. Sounds scary, doesn't it? Well, it's supposed to. And the storm that accompanied it was given a name by the Weather Channel, just like hurricanes.

I suppose, for our overly protected nation (you know, the narcissistic generation we didn't paddle and did everything for), the phrases snow storm and cold snap just don't do it anymore. They must generate false fear to make their lives exciting. (Think network reality shows about adventure, blood-sucking vampire, love stories and gruesome, explicit Zombie thrillers.) All of these shows, in my opinion, fall into the categories of bored, stupid or insane.

Come to think of it, it's just a matter of time before they change the name of the Weather Channel more appropriately to The Apocalypse Channel. Who cares about global warming or climate change 200 years from now? We're all going to die next year from -- you pick it -- Yosemite Park exploding, a comet, a meteor, a giant solar storm, electromagnetic radiation ... the list goes on.

God help us if our nation has to someday experience something really terrifying and disastrous -- like a Hillary Clinton presidency.
