WRESTLING

Bluffton 39, Fort Dorchester 30: Bluffton High School's chances at one of the program's biggest victories rested on Buddy Drew.

The Bobcats' 126-pounder, wrestling the final bout of the night and his team up only three, fought off his back much of the first period before closing the match with a pin in the second. The dramatic victory over No. 9 Fort Dorchester lifted Bluffton to 2-1 in Region 8-AAAA and in good shape for one of the region's four playoff spots.

"It's probably one of -- if not the biggest -- win here at Bluffton," Bobcats coach John Hollman said. "Big win over a good, quality opponent. The place went crazy."

Lloyd Williams at 132, Talon Seitz at 138 and Evan Placke at 145 also won by pin for the Bobcats. Bluffton's Levi Joly won a decision at 120 and Kaden Seitz and Javier Lopez won by forfeits.

Bluffton improved to 26-5 on the season. It faces Ashley Ridge and Beaufort High School in region matches next week.

"It's probably not the best team we've put on the mat, but they wrestle like they are," Hollman said. "They wrestle like there has never been one better."
