A car left unlocked with the keys inside was stolen this week from a Burton neighborhood afflicted by a string of recent thefts, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The 2002 Kia Spectra hatchback was stolen from a driveway in Irongate late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The owner had left the keys inside the car, but not in the ignition, the report said.

At least six other unlocked cars in Irongate were entered overnight Monday. Three cars had missing items reported to the Sheriff's Office, including a handgun stolen from an unlocked pickup truck.
