A Summerville man was charged with burglary Thursday after police caught him inside a gas station he was trying to rob, according to a news release from the Ridgeland Police Department.

Police found Paul Vincent Webster, 45, inside a Sunoco gas station on U.S. 17 at about 1:40 a.m., the release said. Webster, who was charged with second-degree burglary, had thrown a rock through the front door to enter.

He was arrested inside the store and taken to the Jasper County Detention Center, where his bail was set at $50,000, the release said.
