A Hilton Head Island woman was arrested Monday after a preschool employee found two hypodermic needles in her child's bag, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

An employee of Christ Lutheran Preschool on Hilton Head called deputies at about 1 p.m. Monday after finding the two needles, which were filled with a cloudy liquid, the report said. The substance tested positive for heroin, but the Sheriff's Office will conduct additional tests.

The child's mother, 32-year-old Jenna George, packed the bag and drove the child to preschool, her husband told officers. She has a history of abusing prescription medication, the report said.

George was charged with child neglect and is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond set at $10,000.
