AmeriCorps members who serve as volunteer tutors in United Way of the Lowcountry's early-grade reading program will observe the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 24 by participating in a canned-food and clothing drive.

From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., they will be on site to collect and organize canned food and clothing to help Bluffton Self Help as the charity attempts to achieve its largest single day of donations, according to a news release.

Donations can be brought to Bluffton Self Help, 39 Sheridan Park Circle. Details: Deborah Edmondson at 843-837-2000 or dedmondson@uwlowcountry.org.
