High School Roundup, Jan. 13: Doe leads Hilton Head Christian to girls basketball win over Beaufort Academy

Ziaira Doe poured in 24 points and Andy Anderson scored 12 to lead the undefeated Hilton Head Christian Academy girls basketball team to a 58-50 victory over visiting Beaufort Academy.

Monica Bundy scored 11 and Francesca Guidibona 10 to round out the double-digit scorers for Hilton Head Christian.

Hilton Head Christian (8-0) led 31-27 at halftime.

Miranda Weslake scored 27 to pace Beaufort Academy. Hope Gray scored nine.

Hilton Head Christian next travels to Hilton Head Prep on Tuesday. Beaufort Academy (6-5) plays at Thomas Heyward Academy on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

JV: Battery Creek 34, Burke 14

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hilton Head Christian 57, Beaufort Academy 25: Zack Polk scored 12 to lead Hilton Head Christian to the home win.

Mike Dillon added eight points, while Chris Edwards and Deovonte Doe each had seven.

Kevin Trask led Beaufort Academy with 11 points.

The Eagles (4-4) next visit Hilton Head Prep on Tuesday.

JV: Burke 46, Battery Creek 45

WRESTLING

Beaufort High: The Eagles swept a matchup with Colleton County and St. John's. Beaufort High topped Colleton County 48-30 and routed St. John's 54-4.

Double winners for the Eagles were Jake Sharp (113 pounds), William Spann (120), A.J. Smalls (160), Brian Lentz (170), Eric Blakely (182), Mitchell Nestler (195), Connor Lundgaard (220) and Kentrell Seabrook (285).

The Eagles (11-6) return to action Wednesday with a visit by Summerville.

Whale Branch (Saturday): Max Ford took top honors at 285 pounds at the Dreher Blue Devil Invitational in Columbia.
