Teen charged after entering unlocked vehicle

A 13-year-old Beaufort boy was charged with theft after he was caught carrying stolen property and entering an unlocked vehicle Sunday, according to the Beaufort Police Department.

The boy was spotted inside an unlocked car by its owner on Fort Lyttleton Drive around 10:30 p.m. He was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and theft, a report said.

More charges could be filed. The report said the teen gave the name of a possible accomplice spotted in the car by the caller.
