A Hilton Head Island man was arrested Friday in connection with a recent theft, accused of stealing about $10,000 worth of jewelry with their child in tow, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Jason Grant Williams, 29, was charged with grand larceny and child neglect after he allegedly grabbed a display case from a Moss Creek Village store Saturday afternoon and ran, according to the jail log. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

His girlfriend, 22-year-old Margot Carol Tennant, was charged Tuesday with the same offenses. The Hilton Head Island woman is being held at the detention center, with bond set at $20,000.

On Saturday afternoon, the couple reportedly brought their 4-month-old daughter to SC Gold and Silver Buyer, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. Williams traded a few silver pieces for cash while Tennant and the child left the store and got into a car, the release said. Williams then suddenly grabbed a display case and ran outside into the waiting vehicle, which left the scene, according to the release.

Tennant and Williams are also charged with two counts each of credit card fraud in connection with a separate incident, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.
