Movie is not an accurate portrayal of Wall Street

info@islandpacket.comJanuary 9, 2014

I, like a previous letter writer, would like to comment on the movie, "The Wolf of Wall Street."

For those who are unsophisticated and have no knowledge of the environment of Wall Street, let me tell you that this movie does not accurately depict the Wall Street I knew.

Having been in the industry for 40 years, did some of that stuff exist? Sure, but mainly with the so-called sleaze bucket shops. But the well-managed brokerage firms were much more professional and did not resort to those antics.

If you wish to see pornography or enjoy hearing the F word spoken every other word or want to learn how to use drugs, then go see this movie.

I thought the movie was done in very poor taste. And if some of those shenanigans did occur, it didn't exist on a widespread basis.
