Whale Branch boys stay at No. 1 in latest basketball poll

Whale Branch Early College High School's boys basketball team remained No. 1 in the Class 1-A poll when the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association's rankings were released Wednesday.

The Warriors (9-3) won 54-53 at 4-A Bluffton on Wednesday night.

Battery Creek (8-3) is ranked eighth in the boys Class 2-A poll.

In the girls rankings, Whale Branch (8-4), which had not played since Dec. 28, defeated Bluffton, 44-25, on Wednesday and is ranked fourth in Class 1-A. Hilton Head Island (9-5) is ninth in Class 3-A.
