Re-enactor to tell SC's indigo story

Author, historian and re-enactor Peggy Pickett will tell South Carolina's indigo story at 3 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island.

The crop, used to make indigo dye, was an important part of the plantation economy in the 18th century, and indigo plantations were located across the coastal area, including on Hilton Head.

No charge for museum members; all others are $10 per person. Reservations: 843-689-6767, extension 223.
