Soccer field reported damaged

A suspect spun several "donuts" in a car on the soccer field at Haig Point Circle on Hilton Head Island, causing $2,000 in damage to the field's turf, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

A Beaufort County grounds maintenance employee found the damage Thursday and told police the incident occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Thursday, according to a sheriff's office report.

It appeared the suspect removed a bolt and wire that spanned the entryway of the field to get the vehicle on the turf, but there are no surveillance cameras in the area, according to the report.

Deputies were unable to identify the vehicle’s tracks because rain had washed most of them out, the report said.
