BOYS BASKETBALL

Pinewood Prep 82, Hilton Head Prep 62: Four Dolphins scored in double figures, but it wasn't nearly enough to stop a hot Pinewood Prep squad.

John Eck had 20 points to lead Hilton Head Prep (6-2), which was playing without Noah Sulek. Sulek sprained his ankle in practice Thursday, and coach Jerry Faulkner said Sulek's status will be questionable for a while.

Randy Young added 16 points, Brennan Mikell scored 11 and J.T. Marbut had 10 in the loss.

Pinewood Prep, which hit 10 shots from 3-point range, was led by Dexter Coaxum's 18 points.

Hilton Head Prep will be back in action Monday, hosting an Australian junior team at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pinewood Prep 65, Hilton Head Prep 35: The Dolphins dropped their opener to the SCISAA Region 3-AAA season.

Cori Leonard rang up 14 points to lead Hilton Head Prep (3-5, 0-1), and fellow freshman Kendall Smith scored 10.

Precious Paylor tallied a game-high 24 points to lead the hosts.

The Dolphins host Australian team Keysborough on Monday.
