Strong winds following a day of soaking rain led to power outages overnight in the Lowcountry.

Around 3:30 p.m., SCE&G was reporting about 1,180 outages caused by eight incidents in Beaufort County and about 2,350 outages from three incidents in Colleton County, with scattered outages in neighboring counties. Palmetto Electric Cooperative reported around 500 outages, mostly in Jasper County with about 50 in Hampton County.

A National Weather Service wind advisory resulting from an Arctic cold front is set to expire around 8 a.m. this morning. Northwesterly winds of 20 to 30 mph are accompanying the front, with gusts up to 40 to 45 mph.

The National Weather Service advises caution when driving high-profile vehicles and for all vehicles driving on bridges and overpasses.

The forecast for today in Beaufort County is for sun and a high in the mid-40s.
