"Primping" by Stephen Moscowitz

The Society of Bluffton Artists presents "The Nature of Art," a collection of original acrylic paintings by local artist Stephen Moscowitz, on display Jan. 6-31.

Moscowitz's interest in art began with an introduction to illustration in high school. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Art & Design and has taught illustration at the school. He's also been an art director and design in the advertising and publication industry. His work is influenced by Maxfield Parrish, NC Wyeth and Norman Rockwell. Moscowitz is relatively new to the Lowcountry; he joined the society two years ago and has been elected vice president of the board of directors.

A reception will be held from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 12 at the gallery, which is located at the corner of Church and Calhoun streets in Old Town Bluffton. Details: 843-757-6586 or
