Ten percent of our population lives below the poverty level. Every day six million children wake up hungry and go to sleep hungry. Our government's solution: reduce unemployment benefits from two years to six months. Send millions, no billions, of dollars to feed and otherwise support governments and populations in other parts of the world.
How many of us agree with these policies? Why do we not have a say in these decisions? Sure, we elect the people that allow these things to occur. There must, however, be some way for us to live with our conscience while this is going on, using our tax dollars. Do we or do we not have a government of the people? Obviously, there a lot of our people not happy with what is happening.
It is quite a while until Election Day, but let us not forget our fellow Americans and look for the folks that really care.
