A Bluffton woman was injured Thursday night when she drove her car into a ditch on Hilton Head Island.

A witness called the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at about 9:20 p.m. to report a red Toyota Camry driving erratically down Marshland Road, according to an incident report.

The car crashed into a mailbox, then into a ditch in the 600 block of Spanish Wells Road, the report said.

Paramedics removed the driver, 37-year-old Jennifer Lynn Coleman, and took her by LifeStar Air Ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. She was in serious condition Friday afternoon.

Officers also found an open bottle of vodka with liquid inside on the floor of the car, the report said. Attempts Friday to reach the S.C. Highway Patrol for comment were not successful.
