Firefighters deserve applause for light show

info@islandpacket.comDecember 26, 2013

I read several letters to the editor lamenting the lack of holiday lights on the medians of U.S. 278, as well as Hilton Head Island's loss of the Dove Street light tradition.

By accident, I discovered a Christmas light surprise right in the middle of Hilton Head. It is at the firehouse next to the First Presbyterian Church.

When you enter the driveway, there is a small arrow directing you to go behind the firehouse. That is where you enter into a fairyland of lights hanging from trees and around all the displays.

If you are lucky, you may even be there one of the nights the firehouse doors are open and you can see the trucks and the beams also lit. So, pile the family into your car and take in this marvelous sight.

Thank you, Town of Hilton Head Island firefighters for not only putting your life on a limb every time you answer a call, but also for creating this wonderland of lights.
