VIDEO: A bird in the hand is better than one on your screened porch

Debi Kidd saves a chickadee that had been caught on her screened porch.

I was getting ready for work Monday morning when I looked out the window to see my wife standing near our bird feeders with a bird in her hand. Apparently, a chickadee had gotten trapped in our screened porch (I've got to replace the screen door that blew off more than a year ago.)

The little fella was clinging to the screen and nearly exhausted when my wife saw him. She went outside to help him find his way out, but it didn't fly away immediately. It sat in her hands for several minutes ... until some jerk with a smartphone got a little too close.
