Where are the Christmas lights?

info@islandpacket.comDecember 20, 2013

My wife and I have been coming to Hilton Head for years and now live here most of the year. We have always been here with family during Christmas and especially loved the decorative lights strung along U.S. 278 as well as the lights and decorations adorning most of the shopping center entrances.

This year however, there are no lights hung on U.S. 278 and only a few of the shopping areas are decorated. Where have all the lights gone? With Hilton Head slowly but surely working out of its old and dated infrastructure and with new businesses going up and depressed areas being revitalized, now would seem a perfect time to maintain or increase the look of the island.

I assume the reason has no political attachments. And with all the taxes paid to this town, money should be no issue either. Let's remember how important it is to not only enhance the look of our beautiful island, but also to continue this special tradition of lights during the season, shining in the hearts of the young and old kids alike!
