Hilton Head doesn't need a water park

The Town of Hilton Head Island should say no to the proposal to build a water park.

My family and I have vacationed on Hilton Head for at least 35 years. My children were young in those early years, and there was -- and continues to be -- an abundance of activities for teenagers. The island offers tennis, golfing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, biking trails etc. We, and now my grandchildren, continue to vacation and live part-time on the island because of all if offers and its beauty.

Must it now begin to resemble Myrtle Beach? I hope not. The taxpayers should not have to fund a monstrosity such as this. It makes absolutely no sense to erect a water park because teenagers do not have enough to do the one week they are here on vacation. If someone has a great need to visit a water park, they should go to Myrtle Beach. There is a mystique to this island more prevalent in the '70--s than now. We do not want to see the last remnants gone.
