BOYS BASKETBALL

Whale Branch 69, Wade Hampton 48: Sophomore guard Justin Rhode led the way with 19 points, senior guard Simeon Middleton added 15 and senior forward Denzel Daniel had 12 to lead Whale Branch past Wade Hampton on Thursday.

Other scorers for the Warriors (6-2) included Devonta Glover (7), Marlon Williams (6), Michael Middleton (4), Jay Abney (4) and Chavone Simmons (2).

Whale Branch next plays Saturday at a tournament at North Myrtle Beach.

JV: Ridgeland-Hardeeville 54, Battery Creek 45

Middle school: St. Francis 26, Boldon 25

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Whale Branch 53, Wade Hampton 20: Kemoni Jenkins nearly had a triple-double -- scoring 20 points to go with eight assists and nine steals -- to lead the Warriors to victory.

Shaniqua Johnson added 13 points and Jonae Riley had six for Whale Branch (6-2), which will return to action next Thursday against Glynn Academy (Ga.) in the first round of Bluffton's Bobcat Classic.
