A Beaufort man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly punching and choking his girlfriend.

Timothy Lee Shows, 28, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.

At about 2 a.m. Thursday, Shows was at Walsh Drive East in Beaufort when he reportedly threatened to kill his 38-year-old girlfriend and assaulted her numerous times, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh, spokeswoman for the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Shows was wearing rings on his hands, allegedly causing severe injuries to her face, McIntosh said. The woman broke free and ran to a neighbor's house, where she called 911 and was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to McIntosh.

Shows has been released from jail on $10,000 bond.
