A Beaufort teenager was charged with receiving stolen goods worth more than $10,000 Friday in connection with the September theft of a safe from a neighbor's house, a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

Richard Douglas Crowley III, 17, turned himself in to authorities at 6 a.m. Friday after it was discovered he took cash and coins from a safe in the bedroom of a Marsh Drive home, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.

The safe was stolen from the home on Sept. 20, according to an arrest warrant.
