Prep Roundup, Dec. 13: Hilton Head Prep girls, boys reach RET finals

Hilton Head Prep 37, Coastal Hurricanes 17: The host Dolphins broke open a close game at the half to advance to the finals of the RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament.

Catherine Sheehan had 18 points for the Dolphins, who led 13-10 after a cold-shooting first half. Fellow freshman Kendall Smith added 14 points.

Sophomore Maddie McDonald grabbed 10 rebounds for the Dolphins.

Hilton Head Prep (2-3) takes on Hilton Head Christian in Saturday's tournament finals. Tipoff is at 4 p.m.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 70, Bible Baptist 26: Ziaira Doe, Andy Anderson and Monica Bundy all scored in double figures to lead the Hilton Head Christian girls to an easy win in the opening round of the RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament.

Doe finished with 17 points, Anderson had 16 and Bundy scored 11 to send the Eagles (3-0) into the championship game of the tournament. They will face host Hilton Head Prep at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Audrey Bensch added eight points, Macee Tamminen scored seven, Hannah Reynolds five, Francesca Guidobono four and Bria McCarthy two.

Hilton Head Christian outscored Bible Baptist 27-4 in the first quarter and led 45-10 by halftime. The Eagles made seven 3-pointers in the win.

Lauren Mills led Bible Baptist with 10 points.

Thomas Heyward Academy 36, Saint Andrew's 32: Ellie Bryan had 13 points before fouling out and Sydney Glassberg scored 12 to spark the Rebels.

Two players scored in double figures for St. Andrew's.

The Rebels (3-4) are idle until playing in the Andrew Jackson Christmas tournament next Friday and Saturday.


Hilton Head Prep 78, Coastal Hurricanes 38: John Eck and Randy Young teamed up for 45 points as the Dolphins overwhelmed their first-round opponent in the RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament at Hilton Head Prep.

Eck had a game-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds, and Young finished with 21 points and 10 boards. Junior newcomer Brennan Mikell chipped in 13 points and four rebounds for Hilton Head Prep.

The Dolphins (4-1) will face Bible Baptist in Saturday's tournament finals at 5:30 p.m.

Bible Baptist 56, Hilton Head Christian Academy 47: The Eagles got down by 10 at halftime and weren't able to climb back in a first-round game in the annual RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament.

Brad Meccariello finished with 15 points to lead the Eagles (1-2), who will play in the consolation game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against the Coastal Hurricanes at Hilton Head Prep.

Rashon Slater scored 16 points and Casey Hughes had 15 points to lead Bible Baptist, which will face Hilton Head Prep in the championship game at 5:30 p.m.
