Promote 'Tree Walk' in healthy Beaufort

info@islandpacket.comDecember 12, 2013

With regard to marketing Beaufort as a wellness destination, I would like to recommend "The Beaufort Tree Walk" as part of the healthy outdoor activities available at no charge to visitors and residents alike.

Established in May 2005 by the Lady's Island Garden Club, it is a 90-minute, self-guided tour highlighting native and notable trees, primarily in the historic area of the Old Point.

Starting in Morrall Park at the corner of Carteret and Craven streets, it meanders through the historic neighborhood of the Old Point and ends at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.

A free Beaufort Tree Walk booklet with a map and information about each tree is available at the chamber of commerce office near the start of the walk.

This project was a gift to our community and its visitors in the hopes that it would bring an understanding and appreciation of how important our trees are in "Beautiful Beaufort by the Bay" -- a designated Tree City USA.
