Main Street Youth Theatre holding auditions for 'Broadway's Music of the Night'

Open call auditions for the March 2014 Main Street Youth Theatre production of "Broadway's Music of the Night" will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at the theatre, 3000 Main St., Hilton Head Island.

The show is a new theatrical song and dance experience written by Hilton Head resident Don Hite. It will feature songs from "Wicked," "Matilda" and "Newsies," and the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim, Elton John and Jason Robert Brown. Hite has taken several versions of the show on tour in the Midwest and West Coast.

Those auditioning should bring sheet music and be prepared to sing a song in the style of the show, such as a Broadway show tune, Elton John or pop song that highlights one's voice. Needed are singles of all ages for principal solos and ensemble tracks, dancers who also sing, a children's singing and dancing chorus and rhythm performers.

Rehearsals will begin in January and the show will run March 19-30. There is a production fee of $150 for all performers 18 and under. To schedule an audition:
