Sun City resident was one of a kind

Charlie Mitchell recently passed away after a long battle with heart issues, and I read with interest the obituary about his long and successful life. I had the good fortune to have met Charlie and his wife, Babe, during my campaign for the treasurer's office. It was good fortune indeed since he took me under his wing and became my campaign manager. I believe Charlie was 80-years-old but he was a real dynamo. I could not have asked for a better person to help me accomplish my goal of bringing accountability to the treasurer's office.

He worked long and hard because he believed in me and what I was trying to do. He made phone calls and wrote letters while Babe held drop-ins at their home. He garnered the support of a multitude of friends to help us during the campaign.

Yes, I was one of the fortunate ones who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. I know Charlie is still out there, trying to get one more signature on that petition. Thanks, Charlie, for all you meant to my family and me. We will always remember you.
