A search for a man accused of domestic violence on Lady's Island led to five arrests at a home where deputies found marijuana, crack cocaine and 20 guns, some of which were stolen, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies answered a call at a home on Gay Drive, where a 19-year-old woman reported her boyfriend had punched her in the face, then ran off with a handgun, according to a news release.

Deputies went to look for the 20-year-old St. Helena Island man at his relatives' home on nearby Ferris Drive.

When deputies asked if the man was in the house, the occupants said he wasn't, so deputies asked if they could look inside, according to the release.

Deputies were allowed in and found the man in the hall. They also saw guns and smelled marijuana, so they obtained a search warrant, the release said.

Eight of the 20 guns had been reported stolen, the release said, and an ATV that had been reported stolen was also found at the home. Deputies also confiscated 192.9 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of crack cocaine and 4.2 grams of powder cocaine.

The St. Helena man was charged with misdemeanor criminal domestic violence, along with six bench warrants. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center with bail set at a total of $10,237.

He initially claimed all of the property in the house belonged to him, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh. However, deputies believe that might not be true and arrested the four other people in the home.

Medicus Watson Jr., 20, of St. Helena Island; Santaniqua Alexandra Adams, 20, of Lady's Island; and Malcolm Anthony Moore, 21, of Lady's Island were each charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and crack cocaine. A 17-year-old boy from Lady's Island also was charged with simple possession of marijuana.

All four have been released from the detention center, according to the jail log. Their bond amounts were not listed on the log.

Additional arrests and charges are expected as the investigation continues, the release said.
