A fundraiser to benefit Sea Island Regional Science Fairs is planned for Dec. 13 by Hilton Head Island residents Jack and Veronica Hunter.

The event, which will feature a silent auction of items donated by several area businesses, will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Hunters' home at 30 Wilers Creek Way in Broad Pointe.

Veronica Hunter, a member of the organization's fundraising and publicity committee, said a goal of the Sea Island Regional Science Fairs is to enable any child who wins the regional science fair to advance by traveling to higher-level competitions elsewhere. The organization has been granted nonprofit status by the IRS, she said.

The public is invited. Admission is free, but a tax-deductible donation in the form of a check made out to SIRSF will be accepted.
