Bluffton Self Help offers school supplies to family in need

info@islandpacket.comDecember 6, 2013

Eileen and her daughter left an abusive relationship and moved to Bluffton for a new job and new life.

Eileen had saved enough money to pay deposits for her apartment and electricity and the first month's rent. She quickly started her new job, but there would be a delay of her first paycheck. She did not have money to pay for her daughter's school uniforms or school supplies.

Bluffton Self Help collects school supplies for kids and gives them to school social workers who disburse them to kids in need. Social workers can also give parents a voucher for uniforms to be redeemed at ScrubsPlus, and Bluffton Self Help covers the expense.

Bluffton Self Help provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, sick and elderly.
