Prep Roundup, Dec. 5: Thomas Heyward girls top Beaufort Academy for first win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Thomas Heyward Academy 41, Beaufort Academy 27: Alayna DeLong and Ellie Bryan scored 13 points apiece to lead the Thomas Heyward Academy girls basketball team to a 41-27 victory Thursday night over Beaufort Academy in the Warhawk Classic in Walterboro.

Sydney Glassberg added six points for the Rebels (1-1), who play again at 7 p.m. Friday in Walterboro against an opponent to be determined.

Mary Keane led Beaufort Academy (1-3) with six points, and Carly Cline had five. The Eagles played without leading scorer Miranda Weslake.

Beaufort Academy hosts Charleston Collegiate at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Thomas Heyward Academy 61, Colleton Prep 48: Davis Owens poured in 26 points, Collin Roach scored 20 and Dylan Tillotson added 15 as the Rebels notched their first win of the young season, defeating the host team in the Warhawk Classic in Walterboro.
