Matthew Thomas Falk

A 30-year-old Ridgeland man was arrested Tuesday and charged in a Sept. 25 hit-and-run involving a 17-year-old bicyclist, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

Matthew Thomas Falk struck the cyclist with his car at the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Bluffton Park Crescent; he gave the bicyclist his name, but left before police arrived, the release said.

Witnesses told police that Falk stopped at a stop sign and then accelerated just as the bicyclist crossed the intersection.

The bicyclist was treated by EMS for non-life-threatening injures.

Falk has been charged with hit-and-run involving personal injury, driving under suspension and failure to exercise due care while operating a motor vehicle.
