Three books published by Hilton Head Island-based Lydia Inglett Ltd. Publishers have won 2013 USA Best Book Awards, according to a news release.

"Flight of the Mind" by Marcus C. Thomas won the award in the arts division; "The Jazz Corner Story" by Martin McFie took home the prize in the performing arts division; and "Tropical Plant Resources" by Tom Hicks won best book for exterior design landscaping, the release said.

Jeffrey Keen, president and CEO of USA Book News, said this year's contest yielded more than 1,500 entries from mainstream and independent publishers, which then were narrowed to more than 400 winners and finalists.

Lydia Inglett, CEO of the publishing company, has designed and published more than 150 books and recently opened an office in London to work with European clients, the release said.
