Hilton Head Island's annual Turkey Trot scheduled for Thursday morning

The annual Turkey Trot 5K and 10K race begins at 8 a.m. Thursday morning on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

No spots remain for the 25th annual Turkey Trot to be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Thanksgiving morning, on Hilton Head Island.

The Turkey Trot, sponsored by Go Tri Sports and the Island Recreation Association, features a 5-kilometer run, 10-kilometer run and fun walk.

The races begin and end at the Chart House parking lot near the back entrance of Hilton Head Plantation. The after-party will be held in the same parking lot.

About 1,300 racers and fun-walkers will be participating in the event. All pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative shirt, participation medal and will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize.

All proceeds from the race go to the Island Recreation Association's children's scholarship fund.

Race packets will be available for pickup at the Island Rec Center from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
