A Bluffton dental office employee thought she was getting some help from a young man but ended up getting robbed at gunpoint instead.

The 38-year-old employee, who walks with the assistance of a cane, was leaving First Dental of Bluffton on Bluffton Road at about 5:30 p.m. Friday after work, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

As she headed to her car, a man approached her and asked if she needed help, a news release said.

Once they reached her car, he grabbed her purse, but the woman resisted. When he pulled out a handgun, she let go of her purse. The man ran toward Bluffton Road. The woman wasn't hurt.

The robber was described as black, 17 to 20 years old, wearing a black winter jacket and blue jeans.
