Military honors

Army National Guard Pfc. Bruce R. Gilliam Jr. has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

During nine weeks of training, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills, and battlefield operations and tactics, and using various weapons and defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Gilliam is the son of Aremetha Gilliam of Seabrook.

He is a 2007 graduate of Battery Creek High School.
