A 27-year-old Beaufort man was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The Beaufort Police Department received a report three weeks ago alleging a man carried out a lewd act with a minor, Cpl. Hope Able said.

Following an investigation, police arrested Timothy Antwone Johnson, who is being held for prosecution at the Beaufort County Detention Center pending a bond hearing, according to the jail log.

Able declined to release additional details, such as where the incident occurred, citing the ongoing investigation.
