More than 200 of the top junior tennis players in South Carolina and the Southeast will take to the court this weekend on Hilton Head Island for the S.C. Junior State Open Championships, the final opportunity this year to earn USTA ranking points.

Tournament director Jim Stubbs said, as of Wednesday, that 220 players had registered, and he was expecting a few more, good turnout for the high-level tournament to be held in three locations -- Van der Meer Tennis Center, Van der Meer Shipyard Tennis Resort and Palmetto Dunes.

The tournament will consist of boys and girls singles and doubles for 12s through 18s and 10s doubles.

The 10s and 12s will compete on the hard courts at the Van der Meer Tennis Center. The 14s, 16s and 18s will compete on the clay courts of Van der Meer Shipyard Tennis Resort ad Palmetto Dunes.

Finals will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Van der Meer Tennis Center and Van der Meer Shipyard Resort. The tournament is free and open to the public.
