With an ocean, why build a water park?

info@islandpacket.comNovember 19, 2013

A recent letter writer endorsed the construction of a Hilton Head water park by saying that it, like the planned water park in Pooler, Georgia, will draw tourists.

The writer was comparing apples to oranges. Pooler is inland while Hilton Head is an island. Hilton Head has a natural water park. It is called the beach and the ocean. In addition, all the resorts have pools as do the hotels and many of the rental homes.

Before we moved here, we came with our children and spent a week or two in a rental home or condo. The kids spent the day on the beach or at the pool and were perfectly happy. Families come to Hilton Head for the beach and the ocean (our water park), as do the day visitors. The ocean and beach are the attraction. Pooler needs a water park because they are an hour away from a beach. Apples and oranges.
