Fred Hamilton Jr. for Bluffton Town Council

info@islandpacket.comNovember 16, 2013

Fred Hamilton Jr. is our choice in the Bluffton Town Council runoff election Tuesday.

He faces incumbent Mike Raymond for the second open seat on council, after Larry Toomer was the only one of seven candidates to win a seat outright on Nov. 5.

Hamilton, 54, is a native of Bluffton with six years of experience on Town Council, including four as mayor pro-tem. In that time, he proved to be a person with backbone and creativity. He is an independent thinker, and that is what Bluffton needs at this time.

He understands that Bluffton approved too much development too fast and it must now seek to revisit development agreements to better pace the building, and perhaps move it to better places, and reduce it.

He understands the direct link between development and downgraded water quality. He knows the status quo will never get the town to where it wants to be -- home of a clean May River for generations to come.

Hamilton lost his seat two years ago, but still knows the issues well. More importantly, he has shown an ability to work with colleagues to get things done.
