The United Way of the Lowcountry has reached more than $1,510,000 in contributions and pledges, or 65.6 percent of its $2.3 million fundraising goal.

"We are pleased to be ahead of where we were last year at this time in raising funds to help those in need locally," Tina Gentry, United Way of the Lowcountry president and CEO, said in a news release.

In addition to tutors for the Early Grade Reading Program, United Way continually seeks volunteers for its community investment panel to review agency applications, its emerging leaders committee, and its Women's Leadership Council.
